Agreement Enables High-Performance CDN To Adopt Customer Feedback And Equalize Pricing
LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 5, 2007 — EdgeCast Networks, the superior, cost-effective rich media content delivery network (CDN), today became the first CDN to offer customers all the leading streaming solutions for the same price, including: Adobe Flash streaming, Windows Media and Silverlight streaming, and HTTP progressive download pseudo-streaming. This is inclusive of live and on-demand services.
Adobe Flash streaming had previously been priced at a premium to cover higher license fees charged to CDNs. As a result of a new agreement with Adobe, EdgeCast has lowered its Adobe Flash Streaming prices for both live and on-demand services. Based on direct customer feedback, EdgeCast will equalize all streaming pricing and eliminate the price penalty of choosing streaming over progressive download. By pricing all choices equally, customers get the most flexibility to choose the technology that best serves their needs without worrying about cost.
“As recently as last week, customers were forced to make streaming decisions based on price as well as technological nuances, often making the selection of a CDN unnecessarily complex – now we’ve made it simple,” said James Segil, president of EdgeCast Networks. “Once our new Adobe agreement was finalized, we wanted to immediately pass these savings on to customers, rather than profit from the extra margin over the short-term. We hope other CDNs follow suit and equalize their pricing to make the CDN industry a friendlier place for customers.”
EdgeCast has built a global content delivery network designed for today’s rich media Internet. Engineered with high-performance speed and a highly scalable, globally load balanced architecture that supports massive audiences and flash crowds, the EdgeCast network outperforms rivals by significant margins. EdgeCast’s full suite of streaming services is available from every one of the company’s thirteen points of presence around the world.
