Prior to joining EdgeCast, Hussain was director of CDN operations at Level 3 Communications. He joined Level 3 as a result of their acquisition of Savvis, where he was also director of CDN operations. At both companies, he led the company's support organization including hiring, training, and leading a geographically dispersed operations department in a 24/7 environment. His responsibilities included managing, monitoring, and repair of network infrastructure, CDN services, storage, streaming, and other customer-facing support issues.

Prior to Savvis, Hussain was senior manager of software quality assurance at Cable & Wireless, where he built a geographically dispersed team of SQA veterans with expertise in proxy caches, DNS, and various internet protocols. At Cable & Wireless he also implemented a global QA network based in multiple ISPs to verify and validate specific CDN functions.

Before Cable & Wireless, Hussain also served as manager of software quality assurance at both Enterprise Solutions and Quadratron Systems.

Hussain earned a BSEE from CSU, Fresno.
