Maximizing content value with Verizon Media Control

There is an ever-increasing number of OTT services and platforms for consumers to choose from, and the battle for viewer attention is becoming more competitive. In a landscape filled with brands like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and HBO – not to mention the rapid rise of Disney+, every OTT brand must adapt their go-to-market strategy to survive in an industry that is continuously evolving.

To remain relevant, content owners require an innovative and agile video platform that supports a variety of distribution and monetization methods. A platform that can monetize and curate content in multiple ways across OTT devices, including mobile and connected TVs, and can leverage popular social media and aggregation platforms to grow audiences.

The Verizon Media Platform empowers content owners to adapt to the changing marketplace with innovative functionality included in our Streaming product’s new Control feature. Control’s capabilities include a Channel Scheduler for creating live and VOD linear viewing experiences, Syndication Publishing to extend your content’s reach, and an updated Live Events Dashboard with an integrated clipping editor for managing and monitoring your live events from a single location.

The enhanced Channel Scheduler delivers a UI-driven workflow for scheduling your live streams. It now provides content owners the ability to do more with their VOD library and schedule ad-supported linear viewing experiences to engage viewers and drive longer viewing sessions. Programmers can also use Channel Scheduler to extend the reach of their live channels by using Syndication Publishing to reach all of the most popular social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and YouTube.

Verizon Media’s Control capabilities include a Live Events Dashboard, a self-service interface for live event operators to stop and start events, trigger ad breaks, and create clips of the event. The dashboard includes a new Live Event Markers feature, which enables operators to tag events of interest during any live event, for example scoring plays or breaks at the end of a quarter.

The combination of our Managed Slicer with Control’s capabilities, provides live event creators with a virtual control room. These technologies reduce capital expenditures and make it easy to stand up a live event quickly, schedule and publish channels, and reach a larger audience via syndication to social platforms without the need for on-premise equipment or specialized resources.
